General information Tsarevo

Tsarevo is a small town in the Southeastern part of Bulgaria. It is located on 70 km away from Burgas and 12 km from Kiten. In the past the town was called Vasiliko and Michurin. The location of Tsarevo is on small peninsula. The coast is very dismembered, but the landscapes around are interesting and beautiful. The area has a great combination between sea and mountain. The plant species and the trees have formed that specific appearance of the resort. The hills of the mountain are covered by oak trees. The animal world here is very rich – there area a lot of different species. Tsarevo has rich historical past. Under the sea water have been found ancient artifacts. On the South part of the peninsula there had been found a fortress. It is considered that the fortress is from the middle ages. Tsarevo is famous with fishing, but another famous thing is the traditional shipbuilding industry. The ships, which were made in Tsarevo, were small or middle size. Later the town was burned down. At the moment it is devided into 2 parts – New part and Old part. The old part is the part which was not demolished after the blaze. There could be seen the Church “Assumption of Mary”, which is located on the south part of the peninsula. It was built in 1831, but the present appearance of the church was given in 1895. It is very interesting that there is a pirate symbol under the cross on the entrance. It is considered that the church was the only Pirates` Church in the country. In Tsarevo there is a port. At the moment Tsarevo offers ideal touristic possibilities, there have hotels, complexes, guest houses and restaurants.
